Once you finally get through the thick jungle paths of Ngakanu Island and step inside The Heart of the Tribe, you will see Tavakai, the Tukohama Chieftain, waiting at the end. This corrupted warrior is the last big hurdle in Act 4, and he is not there to play nice. If you are hoping to grab some decent loot for vendor recipes or to make some early PoE 2 Items, knowing how to deal with him can save you a lot of frustration. The fight kicks off as soon as you enter, so your gear, flasks, and movement skills should be ready before you take that last step.

Phase one feels simple compared to what comes later. Tavakai is slow, swings big, and shows his moves well in advance, so you can read him easily. His sweeps and slams punish anyone who tries to go toe-to-toe in front of him. Watch out for his chain pull — if it lands, it usually means a quick trip back to the checkpoint. The best trick is staying behind him. Just roll or walk through to his back when he commits to an attack, and most of his strikes will miss. This lets you chip away at his health safely. Keep that up until he smashes the ground in rage, which marks the start of the chaos.

Phase two shifts the fight into a round outdoor arena with eight statues. Five of them spring to life, each adding its own hazard. Lightning blasts drop over massive sections of the field, slowing pools appear from celestial serpents, and a freezing beam can split the ground in two. The worst is when vines cover most of the arena, leaving you squeezed into awkward corners. Even with all this going on, your main plan stays the same — stay mobile, keep behind Tavakai, and only strike when he is stuck in a long animation. Standing still or getting greedy here is how people lose most of their progress.

By the time phase three kicks in, Tavakai has transformed into a huge, spiked monster. His reach is bigger, his swings hit harder, and many attacks now leave dangerous ground effects. The statues keep throwing hazards, so the arena turns into a minefield. Patience is key; the only safe damage windows come when he pauses mid-attack. Use your dash or blink skills to dive in, unload your main burst or DOT abilities, then bail out right after. Melee fighters will feel the pain more, but the same principle applies: watch his tells, dodge often, and work him down bit by bit. Pull it off, and you can loot the corrupted chieftain along with the satisfaction of clearing Act 4 — plus you might score some solid cheap PoE 2 Items for your next run.
